DownRiver Collective formed as a three-piece folk group in 2018. Founding members banjo man John Gray and fiddle player Bailey Warren (nominated for 2024 IBMA Momentum Instrumentalist), have since been joined by vocalist Ali Vance (nominated for 2024 IBMA Momentum Vocalist), mandolinist Rico Wallenda and guitarist Jonny Therrien. All of the members are Belmont University alumni and though not everyone comes from a bluegrass background, they all share a deep respect and love for the genre.
DownRiver Collective blurs the lines between traditional folk and progressive acoustic music. The band continually draws on diverse backgrounds to create a fresh sound that at the same time, is familiar. There is a raw, simple truth in their original music that is delivered with such fiery passion, while maintaining a welcome composure that is so comforting. It is truly quite difficult to stop listening.
