SUMMARY:Starlett & Big John
DESCRIPTION:It’s been only there years since guitarist Big John Talley and singer Starlett Boswell happened to\nmeet\, but in that relatively short time\, they have garnered praise from all corners of the bluegrass\ncommunity. \nAmelia Ricci of Bluegrass Roadtrip.com declares\, “Starlett and Big John’s harmonies and hard\ndriving bluegrass take you on a musical journey you do not want to end. They show up ready to\nentertain and always deliver. Their audience leaves satisfied and looking forward to their next\nshow!” \n“Starlett and Big John have been crowd pleasers from the beginning – on and off the stage!” says\nRodney Preddy\, organizer and namesake of the PreddyFest Bluegrass Festival. “Great people\nand good\, quality music!” \n“Starlett and Big John have an incredible blend of love for traditional and contemporary\nbluegrass music which you will find within their vocal and delivery style\,” adds Michelle Lee of\nWOBL 107.7’s Smoked Country Jam/Bluegrass Borderline. “Once you hear their note to the\nnext\, they will have you tapping your toes while you spend hours on your front porch swing.” \nOf course\, those kinds of accolades are rarely given gratuitously. The duo’s first album\, Till The\nEnd Of The Road\, helped solidify their standing\, reaping widespread praise for both its\nimpressive array of original material and its well-chosen covers. Indeed\, it seemed certain that\nStarlett and Big John were well on their way to establishing a profound presence in today’s\nfertile bluegrass environs. \nThen again\, both individuals arrive at this juncture with well-stocked credentials. Raised in a\nmusical family\, Scarlett became acclimated to bluegrass early on\, winning her first singing\ncompetition at age four and subsequently learning upright bass by the time she was eight. Her\nadolescent years were spent performing with her family’s band\, prior to venturing out on her\nown and performing with other artists and outfits as an adult. \nFor his part\, Big John can claim a musical resume that extends back over 35 years. He too\nbecame acclimated to the sounds of bluegrass at a remarkably early age. He first picked up guitar\nat nine years old\, and remarkably\, by the time he was 16\, he was cited with heady honors\, the\nVFMA Male Vocalist of the Year Award. Barely a year later\, he and his band New Dominion\nBluegrass were guesting with Bill Monroe’s at the Grand Ole Opry. He continued to perform\nwith Bill Monroe and his Blue Grass Boys\, as well as other notables as well\, among them\, Jody\nRainwater (Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs ’bass player)\, Tater Tate (Bill Monroe’s bass player and\nfiddle player) Jackie Phelps (one of Bill Monroe’s guitar players and a star of the hit TV show\n“Hee Haw”)\, The Virginia Squires\, Wyatt Rice\, and plenty of others as well. \nThe two met by chance in January 2019 while they were filling in with a band in North Carolina.\nThere was an immediate chemistry between them\, which became apparent as they began\nworking together with other ensembles. Things really began clicking both personally and\nprofessionally when they found themselves attending the Bluegrass First Class gathering in\nAsheville\, North Carolina. It offered them a chance to share a few tunes and get better\nacquainted. It quickly became apparent that they had many similar musical interests that drew\nfrom the same set of influences\, among them\, Bill Monroe\, The Osborne Brothers\, Jimmy\nMartin\, Larry Sparks\, Del McCoury\, The Stanley Brothers\, Johnson Mountain Boys\, Tony Rice\,\nLester & Earl\, Peter Rowan\, among them. \n“Starlett is absolutely the most talented person I have ever seen\,” Talley said. “Her singing\,\nplaying and songwriting is only second to the size of her heart and her delivery of the music. She\ntruly feels every note she sings\, and plays every note she feels. When it comes to putting it all in\nthere\, she’s right there punching. A true Virginia Songbird.” \nFor her part\, Scarlett makes no secret of her own enthusiasm. “Making music with Big John has\nbeen a once-in-a-lifetime find\,” she maintains. “When you meet that person you musically click\nwith\, everything seems to fall into place. The sky’s the limit.” \nOn June 1\, 2019\, they made their bow as “Starlett and Big John” in Iron Gate\, Virginia\, and\nthey’ve been going strong ever since. An upcoming album on Rebel Records\, Living in the\nSouth\, is due out early next year and features Starlett on bass and vocals\, Big John on guitar and\nvocals\, along with the solid support of Warren Blair on fiddle\, David Carroll on banjo\, Johnathan\nDillon on Mandolin\, and Ron Stewart\, who also produced and engineered the project at Big John\nTalley’s home studio in Southampton\, Virginia\, adding dobro to the title track. \nThe upcoming album also leaves little doubt that the kudos will continue. From the rousing\nsounds of the cautionary “Back Away Little Heart” and the heartfelt strains of the first single\n“Straight 58\,” to the evocative expression and idyllic imagery of “Living in the South” and the\ndown-home designs of “Makin’ Tracks to Macon\,” Living in the South promises to fulfill all the\nexpectation that’s been shared so far. \n“I’ve known Starlett for quite a while and have always been amazed by her true bluegrass vocals\,\nsaid Buddy Michaels\, host of The Hometown Festival Bluegrass Show on WLHC 103.1 FM. \n“She’s also a great heartfelt songwriter. Now teamed up with a seasoned bluegrass boy like Big\nJohn\, the sky is totally the limit!” \nAnnette Grady of the Bluegrass Jamboree.com\, adds her encouragement\, calling them “A\npowerhouse duet: combining talent\, experience and beauty. Starlet and Big John know how to\nbring it!” \nThat they do\, and with more great music to come\, those prophecies will certainly prove true.\n“As children\, we dreamed of one day being remembered among the greats in Bluegrass history\,”\nTalley reflects. “I can’t wait to see what the good Lord has in store for us.” \nHere again\, Scarlett concurs. “Signing with Rebel Records is a dream we’ve both had since\nchildhood\,” she insists. “I hope our music will one day land us on the famous circle at the Grand\nOle Opry. Plus\, we can’t wait to tour all these beautiful United States and to take our music to other countries as well.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArtist Website

SUMMARY:Jack Schneider
DESCRIPTION:The world of Jack Schneider is one strewn with eccentricity and nostalgia\, where a New York cowboy wanders the streets of East Nashville donning a Stetson Range\, a purist philosophy\, and his beloved 1956 Martin D-28 guitar\, Big Jim.  Jack is\, as some would say\, a Nashville triple threat – guitarist\, songwriter\, and singer\, in addition to producer\, guitar collector\, and analog enthusiast. \nBorn in New York and raised in Georgia\, Jack began making trips to Gruhn Guitars in Nashville when he was in high school\, seeking to quench his insatiable thirst for knowledge of fretted instruments.  Despite attending university in New York\, he spent most school breaks and long weekends in Music City\, working summers at Gruhn’s; it was there that he met and befriended Vince Gill\, among other musical heroes.  With one foot in New York and one in Nashville\, Jack expanded his network as both a session player and an artist in both cities\, gracing the stages of The Bitter End and The Bluebird Cafe with equal character and charm. \nSince graduating from NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music in 2019\, Jack has added significantly to his laundry list of accomplishments: he’s toured with Vince Gill as both guitar tech and player\, produced records for multiple up-and-coming Nashville artists (recorded to tape\, of course)\, released his first single to critical acclaim\, played the Grand Ole Opry\, and delivered a series of “vanishing albums:” full-length records accessible for a week at a time each during the pandemic\, after which they were removed from streaming services and unavailable for physical purchase.  Most recently\, Jack recorded his debut non-vanishing record with the likes of David Rawlings\, Vince Gill\, Stewart Duncan\, and Dennis Crouch.  With a reverence for folk music and an instrumental prowess that captivates audiences everywhere\, Jack Schneider is a sharp answer to the ever-urgent question of modern day artistic authenticity. \n\n\n\nArtist Website

SUMMARY:The Po' Ramblin' Boys
DESCRIPTION:Every so often a band comes around that knocks everybody’s socks off and gets people talking. I’d bet good money that you’re gonna really enjoy them\, but I don’t want to take your money. Use it to listen to the PRB. I‘m putting my money on them. \n-Jim Lauderdale \nAt a time when most people feel constantly distracted by technology and barraged by the news\, authenticity and straightforward honesty are paramount. There’s something about the music of The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys that cuts right through the noise of the world and speaks plainly to the soul. Formed in the Smoky Mountains\, The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys are at once exactly what you would expect and not at all what you would expect from a tattooed East Tennessee Bluegrass outfit. No strangers to hard work\, the boys are as much at home riding in their restored Eagle tour bus as they are crawling underneath to fix it when it needs maintenance. But they take pride in being ambassadors of their genre\, and the group has brought their music from rural bluegrass festival stages to the rock clubs of Europe\, and even the GRAMMY Red Carpet\, with stunning results. “I think to a certain extent everyone is just craving music that they can feel\, and any music that feels real will reach any audience” says CJ Lewandowski\, the groups founder\, “We want to put bluegrass right where it’s least expected”. Perhaps this mindset is why the group earned the title of Emerging Artist of the Year at the 2018 IBMA Awards. \nIn 2014\, Lewandowski was working at Ole Smoky Moonshine Distillery in Sevierville\, TN when the band first formed. The distillery employed musicians to play for visitors seven days a week\, and Lewandowski\, who primarily plays Mandolin and sings\, was occasionally hired to fill in when the entertainment didn’t show. Eventually\, the distillery approached him about forming a band for a full time slot\, so he reached out to long time music friends Jereme Brown\, who plays banjo for the group\, and Josh Rinkel\, who plays guitar. “Jereme was doing a lot of welding work at that time\, and Josh was running a sign company”\, says Lewandowski\, “I think we were all ready to do something new\, something with our music but we didn’t know when or how”. Bassist Jasper Lorentzen happened to be working in the tasting room at the distillery\, and he turned out to be the perfect addition to the band. The four friends played multiple times a week for a year and half\, honing their band sound\, meanwhile word was spreading about their music. “The first gig we played out of town was a festival in Alberta\, Canada\, and a week later we went on a two week tour of Europe\, it was crazy”\, says Lewandowski. In 2020\, the finishing touch\, the cherry on top if you will\, was added to the quartet. Laura Orshaw\, a seasoned fiddle player and singer joined the Boys after contributing her talents to the Sound Biscuit Productions’ full Gospel album\, “God’s Love is So Divine” and “Toils\, Tears\, & Trouble.” On the addition C.J. exclaims “after 5 1/2 together as a four piece\, we needed that perfect fit that would not only fit us on stage and recording\, but a personality that would add to the band and be a part of the family we have created. Laura was that person and we can’t think of anyone else that fits our music and our family better than her. The show has benefitted so much from Laura and the chemistry we have between the now 5 of us.” \nMaterial for the group’s freshman Rounder Records album “Toil\, Tears & Teouble\,” was a combination of original songs and old numbers that honor the group’s mentors and bluegrass heroes. “We love to dig up old songs that haven’t been heard in years and bring them back into the spotlight”\, explains Lewandowski. In fact\, two of those gems on the Rounder album\, “Next Train South” and “Hickory\, Walnut & Pine\,” were nominated for IBMA Song of the Year along with “Next Train South” taking the trophy for SPBGMA same category in 2020. The momentum of “Toil\, Tears & Trouble” has continued to grow with the band’s first GRAMMY Nomination for Best Bluegrass Album.\nThe Po’ Ramblin’ Boys passion for bluegrass is as clear as it is contagious. With a heavy touring schedule across the United States and Europe and recent Grammy Nomination with Rounder Records\, the Boys are well on their way to becoming the quintessential bluegrass band of their generation. Despite all of their recent success\, they maintain a humble perspective. “Bluegrass has left such a mark on us that we feel like we owe something back to the music”\, says Lewandowski. “We want to do something for the music to show our appreciation… There’s no telling what could have happened to us\, what we would have become if we hadn’t found this music. It’s gotten us through a lot\, the good and the bad. When I think about all of the damn medications that I didn’t have to take because I had music to turn to. We didn’t have to go to the doctor and pay for something to make us feel better\, because we had this music\, so we really want to honor it by bringing it out of the shadows and onto new stages and wider audiences. Because we know that if we can bring Bluegrass to new folks\, those folks will come with us and support the bluegrass community.” \n“Loved having the guys in studio… great live performance…they’re the real deal” ! \n– Charlie Mattos producer/cohost Coffee\, Country & Cody \n\nArtist Website

It features her brilliant road band along with special guest and co- writer Aoife O’Donovan. Jubilee is a song cycle that shares the story of Becky’s lifelong struggle with depression and anxiety\, how it reached a crisis point during the pandemic years\, and how she made it to the other side. \nIn April 2023\, Becky was inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall Of Fame. \nBecky moonlights with the First Ladies Of Bluegrass\, an all-female ensemble composed of the first women to win in their respective instrumental categories at the IBMA awards: Alison Brown (banjo)\, Missy Raines (bass)\, Sierra Hull (mandolin)\, Becky (fiddle)\, and Molly Tuttle (guitar). \nEqually passionate about bluegrass music education\, Becky has over 20 years experience teaching fiddle\, singing\, and songwriting\, both privately and at workshops and camps around the world. SUMMARY:The French Family Band
DESCRIPTION:Country music just sounds better when a family sings it. That’s where it all began: mothers\, fathers\, grandparents\, aunts\, uncles\, and cousins\, all huddled together\, picking and singing on a porch in the twilight. That’s why when The French Family launch into the bittersweet ache of a classic or the startling tenderness of one of their self-penned original songs\, the hairs on country music loving necks stand up\, and we instinctively––sometimes tearfully––recognize this father\, mother\, and son as the real thing. Touring over the last almost 20 years as Camille and Stuie\, the husband-and-wife duo became beloved in Australia. Stuie is a monster player with chops that sublimely meld the virtuosity and instinct of jazz with the clear tone and restraint of American hillbilly roots music. Camille holds a once-in-a-generation voice: somehow both crisply expressive and immeasurably rich and smooth\, she can sit back to soothe in a pocket before jumping out to thrill. Now based in Nashville and with the addition of middle son Sonny on stage\, The French Family is acclimating to life stateside––deep roots in tow. “I love being able to share our family music with people\,” says Camille. “I think people crave it. They come up and tell me how much they love seeing the love among our family and what we do––and I love being able to share that with everybody.” \nStuie agrees\, adding\, “We hope our music takes people back to a time when the essence of country music was twangy guitars\, honest songs\, and vocals that tear your heart out.” \nDoors open at 7pm. Show begins at 8pm. All tickets here are first come\, first served at the door. So if you are in the area\, plan to come down and enjoy live music with a pizza and a beer (or two!) \n\nArtist websiteFollow on FacebookFollow on Instagram

SUMMARY:Lauren Mascitti
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Station Inn for a great night of music with Lauren Mascitti! \n\n\nYou might remember Lauren Mascitti from this past season of ABC’s “American Idol.” Mostly known for her solo round performance during Hollywood Week of a song she penned herself and dedicated to her nana titled “God Made A Woman\,” she quickly became a fan favorite. During the Top 40 showcase in Hawaii\, however\, she became part of a history-making and controversial vote for the last spot in AI’s Top 20. Although she didn’t win the vote\, putting her in 21st place\, outraged Idol fans catapulted Lauren’s newest independent album release “God Made a Woman” to #4 on the iTunes Country Albums Chart within a day of her elimination. Lauren is determined to keep the fire burning bright using her momentum and success from her Idol experience as fuel. #21 just might be Lauren’s magic number… \nYears before Lauren Mascitti’s newest release\, God Made a Woman\, helped build a bridge between the traditional twang of her country influences and the modern melodies of her Nashville contemporaries\, the songwriter grew up in the small farm community of Louisville\, Ohio\, raised on the sounds of her grandparents’ music collection. Her Nana was a fan of old-school soul and gospel music. Her Papaw loved outlaw country stars like Waylon Jennings. Lauren rolled those influences into her own sound\, recording her first album at 7 years old and quickly growing into a seasoned performer\, skilled multi-instrumentalist\, and expressive storyteller. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNine albums later\, Lauren’s story remains grounded in the cultural tapestry of her upbringing. A proud Italian-American\, she grew up with the songs of her favorite Italian-American artists\, whose classic melodies inspired her own songwriting. Equally inspirational were the Saturday nights of her childhood\, when Lauren would often stay up late to watch singers like Crystal Gayle on The Statler Brothers Show. Come Sunday\, she’d be at her beloved church\, Trinity Gospel Temple\, singing in the choir and leading praise and worship in the youth group. Mentored at the age of 7 by choir member Cheryl Jamison\, Lauren developed a strong voice and began recording her own gospel albums while still in elementary school. By 12 years old\, she had released four solo records and moved to Branson\, Missouri\, where she balanced her schoolwork with nightly performances alongside gospel singer (and original Oak Ridge Boy) Gary McSpadden. She played six shows a week at the Americana Theater\, becoming a professional singer before she was even a teenager. \nMeanwhile\, Lauren was also growing into a seasoned songwriter. Strumming an old Gibson Dove acoustic guitar that had once belonged to her great-grandfather\, she wrote her first songs as a young teenager\, drawing not only upon her background as a gospel singer\, but also her love of poetry and a lifelong appreciation for classic country music. She started making regular trips to Nashville at the age of 13. There\, she studied with renowned vocal coach Brett Manning\, played her original music at local songwriters showcases\, and began planning her move to the big city. Lauren recorded her first batch of original songs at 15 years old and even scored a hit with “Child of God\,” which debuted at number 70 on the national Southern Gospel radio chart. In the meantime\, Lauren was still traveling from church to church with her music ministry\, as well as anywhere else her Nana drove her. \nLauren eventually did move to Nashville\, but not before graduating college with a degree as a registered nurse. “I work with people at different stages in their lives\,” she says of her ongoing work as an RN\, “and I’ve heard so many stories. The whole experience has inspired me. I’ve learned a lot about people and what they’ve gone through.” During her off-the-clock hours\, Lauren continued writing songs\, sometimes alone and sometimes with the input of co-writers like Pam Tillis\, Matraca Berg\, Mo Pitney\, Bobby Tomberlin\, Wil Nance\, Bill Whyte\, Ronnie Bowman\, Renee Martin\, and more. She also struck up a partnership with Grammy Award-winning producer\, Shawn Camp\, who produced Lauren’s strongest album to date: 2020’s God Made a Woman. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA heavily autobiographical album featuring performances from bluegrass icon Ricky Skaggs\, pedal steel legend Paul Franklin\, and others\, God Made a Woman finds Lauren singing about her childhood stomping grounds (“I Wanna Show You My Town”)\, her work as a nurse (“Hello Sad Eyes”)\, and her faith in God (“Ready For The Sun To Shine Again”). The album was recorded at the legendary Butcher Shoppe and engineered by the great Sean Sullivan\, with Lauren tracking her vocals alongside a all-star band that included dobro player Jimmy Stewart (Brooks & Dunn)\, drummer Larry Atamanuik (Emmylou Harris\, Allison Krauss)\, guitar hero Guthrie Trapp (Jerry Douglas\, Patty Loveless)\, keyboardist Peter Wasner (Vince Gill)\, upright bassist Mike Bub (Ashley Monroe\, Vince Gill)\, fiddle player Aubrey Haynie (The Time Jumpers)\, and Shawn Camp (Guy Clark\, Garth Brooks). The result is an album about a young woman finding her place in the world and in the music industry. Lauren has found her sound\, too — a sound that is empowered\, eclectic\, and similarly soothing as her RN work. \n“I grew up with gospel and traditional country\,” explains the songwriter\, who updates the classic sounds of her childhood on the new record\, “but this album is about more than tradition. I want to put a fresh spin on everything\, while still grounding it in an earthy\, rootsy vein. God Made a Woman is a mix of the traditional and the fresh.” \nLauren has always been fond of the classics. “I’m an old soul\,” she admits\, “and everything I really love tends to come from a time that’s before my own.” With God Made a Woman\, though\, she mixes the classic sound of her influences with modern appeal. It’s an honest album grounded in one woman’s personal history — her gospel-filled church services in Ohio; her Nana’s favorite soul songs; her Papaw’s country cassettes; her many performances at Italian-American events like the Dean Martin Festival — with a fresh spin. \nGod Made a Woman is Lauren Mascitti not only as her most compelling\, but at her most fully realized. This is her story\, told song by song. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nArtist WebsiteFollow on Facebook

SUMMARY:Edgar Loudermilk Band
DESCRIPTION:Edgar Loudermilk’s signature voice\, bass skills\, and songwriting are a family tradition for this Louvin Brothers’ descendant. Loudermilk’s distinctive and powerful vocals cut to the heart of a song\, while also winning over audiences with his friendly\, down-home style. \nIn addition to touring and performing\, Edgar Loudermilk has experienced great success as a songwriter. To quote Edgar\, “I see songwriting as much of a calling as singing. Songwriting is a big part of it for me. In addition\, “Lonesome Riverboat Blues” spent 12 weeks in the Top 20 of the Bluegrass Today Airplay Charts. \nPrior to stepping out with his own band in 2015\, Edgar Loudermilk experienced a long tenure of performing with the award-winning groups Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out\, Rhonda Vincent & The Rage\, and Marty Raybon & Full Circle.

SUMMARY:The Amanda Cook Band
DESCRIPTION:Amanda Cook\, now entering her tenth year as the leader of the Amanda Cook Band\, has left an indelible mark on the bluegrass scene. \nOriginally from Jay\, Florida\, Cooks passion for bluegrass was ignited by her father\, with whom she played in a band during the mid-2000s. With her down-to-earth style\, profound connection with her audience\, and distinctive vocal range\, she quickly achieved popularity. Fueling a fire to record and tour professionally\, Cook made the move to the Mountains of Virginia\, to not only sign a long term 5 album contract with record label Mountain Fever Records\, but also to work there as an engineer. \nThe band’s fourth studio album\, “Changes” debuted at the number one spot of the Billboard Bluegrass Album chart in October 2022\, coinciding with the band’s continued presence at festivals and top venues nationwide. \nIn 2022\, Amanda was promoted to Chief Operations Officer of Mountain Fever Records where she continues to oversee operations of the label. In 2024\, Cook was chosen as one of 25 distinct members of the bluegrass community to serve in the International Bluegrass Music Association’s annual Bluegrass Leadership program. \nA 5th album from the band is slated to release Fall of 2024\, and the first 2 releases have garnered top ranking play on Sirius XM and have been spotted on the Bluegrass Today charts as well. \n\nArtist Website
