SUMMARY:EmiSunshine
DESCRIPTION:Rolling Stone once named EmiSunshine among “10 new country artists you need to know\,” but she is more than that. With a style described as “old-timey\,” the East Tennessee native performs her own unique contemporary blend of roots music that is equal parts Americana\, Bluegrass\, Gospel\, Blues and Jazz. \nKnown for her powerful voice and masterful ukulele-playing\, the 19-year-old singer/songwriter has been attracting national attention since she was 9 years old\, with appearances on Today\, NBC’s Little Big Shots\, American Idol\, Pickler & Ben\, Song of the Mountains\, WoodSongs Old-Time Radio Hour the Grand Ole Opry and elsewhere. In 2018\, she was featured in the Grammy-nominated Elvis Presley documentary film The King\, for which she wrote and performed two original songs—“Johnny\, June and Jesus” and “Danny Ray.” In 2019\, she received the prestigious ASCAP Foundation Desmond Child Anthem Award for musical excellence. \nWith nine albums released under own name and guest appearances on other projects\, EmiSunshine is now preparing to release her first Bluegrass album\, SIDESHOW\, with her family band The Rain (father Randall Hamilton\, brother Johnathon Hamilton\, and Uncle Bobby Hill). Though she has recorded Bluegrass-tinged songs in the past\, the new project is her first complete Bluegrass album\, featuring guest performances by 3-time IBMA winner Justin Moses\, mandolin prodigy Wyatt Ellis\, Cruz Contreras of The Black Lillies\, and Nashville multi-instrumentalist Addie Levy. \n“So many fans have been asking me to record a Bluegrass album\,” she says. “It’s the kind of music I grew up on\, and it has been such a huge influence on me\, ever since I heard Ralph Stanley sing ‘O Death’ at Merlefest when I was real young. It stopped everyone in their tracks. I felt that reverence to my core.” \nEmi has opened for\, or shared the stage with the likes of Loretta Lynn\, Rhonda Vincent\, Willie Nelson\, Vince Gill\, Tanya Tucker and more. She began writing songs at the age of 5 with help from her mother\, Alisha Hamilton\, with whom she still regularly writes. Many of her songs deal with serious themes like domestic violence and addiction\, but she is equally drawn to uplifting stories that celebrate equality and offer encouragement to anyone facing challenges in life. \nEmi regularly co-writes with other acclaimed songwriters\, including Jim Lauderdale\, Vicky McGehee\, Leslie Satcher\, Marla Cannon-Goodman\, and more. In 2020\, she collaborated with Grammy-winning funk music legend Bootsy Collins on the song “Stars” to benefit the Recording Academy’s MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund. \nDoors open at 7pm. \n\nArtist Website

SUMMARY:The Kody Norris Show
DESCRIPTION:Whatever you do\, don’t call The Kody Norris Show ‘retro.’ \nBecause while the reigning SPBGMA Entertainers of the Year are known for the rhinestones that shine\nfrom their lapels and the fringe that hangs from their collars seem to conjure up memories of times\ngone by\, The Kody Norris Show are very much directing their gaze forever forward. \nNow\, more than ever before. \nThe talented group\, made up of frontman Kody Norris\, Josiah Tyree\, Mary Rachel Nalley-Norris\, and\nCharlie Lowman\, finds themselves with a growing legion of fans craving the comfort that comes from\ntheir retro look\, but equally craving dynamic instrumentation and thought-provoking lyrics – all of\nwhich can be heard throughout their epic new album Rhinestone Revival. \n“There is a whole chapter of country music that’s just kind of faded away\,” The Kody Norris Show’s\nfrontman once said. “I believe The Kody Norris Show has been instrumental in bringing back some of\nthat nostalgia and some of that classic look that country music and bluegrass music used to have.”\nThe foundations of the electrifying four-piece band can be found within the roots of Kody Norris\nhimself\, a once inquisitive youngster from Mountain City\, Tennessee who would spend hours sitting in\nthe passenger seat of his Uncle Jack’s Chevrolet El Camino listening to the entirety of The Stanley\nBrothers 16 Greatest Hits tape\, wondering if he would ever be able to match the sweet harmonies\ncoming through the speakers. \nIt was those very harmonies that Norris also would recognize wavering through the rafters of the\nBaptist church he attended as a kid. There was a bluegrass quartet that would play in the Free Will\nBaptist Church\, and soon Norris became infatuated with the music that could materialize from a\nbanjo and a guitar. So\, at nine years old\, he picked up the mandolin. \nAnd he never put it down. \nIt was a similar love affair of music for Mary Rachel Nalley-Norris\, who started playing classical violin\nin the fourth grade\, but by the fifth grade\, she knew it wasn’t for her. Instead\, in a quest to differentiate\nherself from her musical counterparts in her grade school orchestra\, she took up the fiddle. She\nbegan playing the festival circuit alongside the likes of the legendary Larry Sparks and the Lonesome\nRamblers and soon became one of the most dynamic females on those festival stages. \nIt was on that stage she eventually met her husband Kody\, who had already gone on to play alongside\nthe likes of Ralph Stanley\, Ralph Stanley II\, and Joe Isaacs throughout his already impressive career.\nIn 2017\, banjo extraordinaire Josiah Tyree signed on with The Kody Norris Show\, and soon his\nold-time clawhammer style fit right into the bluegrass style that the band was becoming known for\nacross the country. And when bass player Charlie Lowman joined in on the fun\, armed with a\ngiddiness and love for the music that he plays that soon became infectious\, The Kody Norris Show as\nwe now know it was complete. \nIt was musical magic at its finest. \nIt’s this easy-going nature that became downright illuminated on 2017’s When I Get the Money Made\,\nwhich was named Bluegrass Album of the Year by the National Traditional Country Music\nAssociation. The Kody Norris Show followed it up with 2019’s All Suited Up\, which debuted at #7 on\nthe Billboard charts. Now playing over 100 dates a year across the country and around the world\, The\nKody Norris Show have been part of the University of Chicago Folk Festival and are part of two weekly\nprograms on the acclaimed RFD-TV’s network\, The Cumberland Highlanders Show and The Bluegrass\nTrail. \nBut with the release of Rhinestone Revival comes a feeling that listeners have just begun to witness\nThe Kody Norris Show’s very own revival\, as the band finds themselves sprinkling their iconic\nrhinestones on a few different music genres to solidify their place on the musical landscape.\nAnd the fans can’t get enough. \nIn fact\, it’s those fans that have raised The Kody Norris Show to a place in which they stand today\, a\nplace where the four-piece\, multi-instrumentalist\, bluegrass band are quickly becoming four of the\nmost epic entertainers of our time. Add that to the songwriting displayed on the Kody Norris-penned\n“Baltimore I’m Leaving\,” “Fiddler’s Rock\,” “Please Tell Me Why\,” and the infectious “Gotta Get My Baby\nBack” on Rhinestone Revival\, and there is no doubt that The Kody Norris Show is as current as ever. \nThey ain’t retro. They have something different. They have something uniquely theirs. They have\nsomething that makes them stand out. \n“We want people to know who we are\,” Norris once said. \nAnd they will. \n\n\n\n\nArtist WebsiteFollow on Facebook

SUMMARY:The French Family Band
DESCRIPTION:Country music just sounds better when a family sings it. That’s where it all began: mothers\, fathers\, grandparents\, aunts\, uncles\, and cousins\, all huddled together\, picking and singing on a porch in the twilight. That’s why when The French Family launch into the bittersweet ache of a classic or the startling tenderness of one of their self-penned original songs\, the hairs on country music loving necks stand up\, and we instinctively––sometimes tearfully––recognize this father\, mother\, and son as the real thing. Touring over the last almost 20 years as Camille and Stuie\, the husband-and-wife duo became beloved in Australia. Stuie is a monster player with chops that sublimely meld the virtuosity and instinct of jazz with the clear tone and restraint of American hillbilly roots music. Camille holds a once-in-a-generation voice: somehow both crisply expressive and immeasurably rich and smooth\, she can sit back to soothe in a pocket before jumping out to thrill. Now based in Nashville and with the addition of middle son Sonny on stage\, The French Family is acclimating to life stateside––deep roots in tow. “I love being able to share our family music with people\,” says Camille. “I think people crave it. They come up and tell me how much they love seeing the love among our family and what we do––and I love being able to share that with everybody.” \nStuie agrees\, adding\, “We hope our music takes people back to a time when the essence of country music was twangy guitars\, honest songs\, and vocals that tear your heart out.” \nDoors open at 7pm. Show begins at 8pm. All tickets here are first come\, first served at the door. So if you are in the area\, plan to come down and enjoy live music with a pizza and a beer (or two!) \n\nArtist websiteFollow on FacebookFollow on Instagram

SUMMARY:The Po' Ramblin' Boys
DESCRIPTION:Every so often a band comes around that knocks everybody’s socks off and gets people talking. I’d bet good money that you’re gonna really enjoy them\, but I don’t want to take your money. Use it to listen to the PRB. I‘m putting my money on them. \n-Jim Lauderdale \nAt a time when most people feel constantly distracted by technology and barraged by the news\, authenticity and straightforward honesty are paramount. There’s something about the music of The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys that cuts right through the noise of the world and speaks plainly to the soul. Formed in the Smoky Mountains\, The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys are at once exactly what you would expect and not at all what you would expect from a tattooed East Tennessee Bluegrass outfit. No strangers to hard work\, the boys are as much at home riding in their restored Eagle tour bus as they are crawling underneath to fix it when it needs maintenance. But they take pride in being ambassadors of their genre\, and the group has brought their music from rural bluegrass festival stages to the rock clubs of Europe\, and even the GRAMMY Red Carpet\, with stunning results. “I think to a certain extent everyone is just craving music that they can feel\, and any music that feels real will reach any audience” says CJ Lewandowski\, the groups founder\, “We want to put bluegrass right where it’s least expected”. Perhaps this mindset is why the group earned the title of Emerging Artist of the Year at the 2018 IBMA Awards. \nIn 2014\, Lewandowski was working at Ole Smoky Moonshine Distillery in Sevierville\, TN when the band first formed. The distillery employed musicians to play for visitors seven days a week\, and Lewandowski\, who primarily plays Mandolin and sings\, was occasionally hired to fill in when the entertainment didn’t show. Eventually\, the distillery approached him about forming a band for a full time slot\, so he reached out to long time music friends Jereme Brown\, who plays banjo for the group\, and Josh Rinkel\, who plays guitar. “Jereme was doing a lot of welding work at that time\, and Josh was running a sign company”\, says Lewandowski\, “I think we were all ready to do something new\, something with our music but we didn’t know when or how”. Bassist Jasper Lorentzen happened to be working in the tasting room at the distillery\, and he turned out to be the perfect addition to the band. The four friends played multiple times a week for a year and half\, honing their band sound\, meanwhile word was spreading about their music. “The first gig we played out of town was a festival in Alberta\, Canada\, and a week later we went on a two week tour of Europe\, it was crazy”\, says Lewandowski. In 2020\, the finishing touch\, the cherry on top if you will\, was added to the quartet. Laura Orshaw\, a seasoned fiddle player and singer joined the Boys after contributing her talents to the Sound Biscuit Productions’ full Gospel album\, “God’s Love is So Divine” and “Toils\, Tears\, & Trouble.” On the addition C.J. exclaims “after 5 1/2 together as a four piece\, we needed that perfect fit that would not only fit us on stage and recording\, but a personality that would add to the band and be a part of the family we have created. Laura was that person and we can’t think of anyone else that fits our music and our family better than her. The show has benefitted so much from Laura and the chemistry we have between the now 5 of us.” \nMaterial for the group’s freshman Rounder Records album “Toil\, Tears & Teouble\,” was a combination of original songs and old numbers that honor the group’s mentors and bluegrass heroes. “We love to dig up old songs that haven’t been heard in years and bring them back into the spotlight”\, explains Lewandowski. In fact\, two of those gems on the Rounder album\, “Next Train South” and “Hickory\, Walnut & Pine\,” were nominated for IBMA Song of the Year along with “Next Train South” taking the trophy for SPBGMA same category in 2020. The momentum of “Toil\, Tears & Trouble” has continued to grow with the band’s first GRAMMY Nomination for Best Bluegrass Album.\nThe Po’ Ramblin’ Boys passion for bluegrass is as clear as it is contagious. With a heavy touring schedule across the United States and Europe and recent Grammy Nomination with Rounder Records\, the Boys are well on their way to becoming the quintessential bluegrass band of their generation. Despite all of their recent success\, they maintain a humble perspective. “Bluegrass has left such a mark on us that we feel like we owe something back to the music”\, says Lewandowski. “We want to do something for the music to show our appreciation… There’s no telling what could have happened to us\, what we would have become if we hadn’t found this music. It’s gotten us through a lot\, the good and the bad. When I think about all of the damn medications that I didn’t have to take because I had music to turn to. We didn’t have to go to the doctor and pay for something to make us feel better\, because we had this music\, so we really want to honor it by bringing it out of the shadows and onto new stages and wider audiences. Because we know that if we can bring Bluegrass to new folks\, those folks will come with us and support the bluegrass community.” \n“Loved having the guys in studio… great live performance…they’re the real deal” ! \n– Charlie Mattos producer/cohost Coffee\, Country & Cody \n\nArtist Website

SUMMARY:Caleb Klauder & Reeb Willms Band
DESCRIPTION:Dust off your boots and gather around for some true and original modern honky tonk music. An all-star cast of master musicians backs these two soul singers of country music\, Caleb Klauder and Reeb Willms. These two are known to roots music fans across the globe for their soulful harmonies\, driving dance tunes\, classic original songs\, and commitment to the raw truth of rural American music. They live in the San Juan Islands of Washington\, though until recently\, home was Portland\, OR. They are foundational to the exceptional old-time and country music scene in the Pacific NW with the Caleb Klauder Reeb Willms Country Band and their membership in the Foghorn Stringband\, of which Caleb was a founding member. Charismatic performers\, they bring their unique set of talents to the stage with an eye towards good times and an ear towards the deepest songs and tunes. \nCaleb Klauder and Reeb Willms both originally hail from Washington State: Caleb from the coastal islands\, and Reeb from the high desert plateau. The two have come together in music and are hailed as some of the most compelling musicians making country roots music in America today. When these two sing together\, their honest incantations leave us spell-bound and smiling. \nTheir repertoire is made up of original songs and tunes as well as gems from American roots repertoires\, and the music they make is Americana in the truest sense of the word. Music is clearly in their blood. Caleb and Reeb’s originals and interpretations of songs have been covered and recorded by many performers and their musical presence reaches into a diverse and loyal fanbase\, giving creedance to the impact that this duo has on their listeners. Pillars of the Northwest music scene\, they carry the torch of their music around the world\, and can be found touring as a duo\, as well as with the Foghorn Stringband\, and the Caleb Klauder Country Band. Their fans exude admiration for the timeless sound that these two produce\, capturing the essence of American roots music. \nSometimes we get so unnecessarily swept up in who’s rising and falling in music these days that the sheer joy of music is overlooked. One of the great things about Caleb and Reeb is that they are a world apart from all of that nonsense and let you immerse yourself in the melody and story of classic sounding country music until all other cares of life fade away. Country music is the music of working people who use it to pass the time and forget about the ever-present hardships in their lives. After years of touring together\, Reeb and Caleb work intuitively. \nCaleb’s study and understanding of roots music is so dedicated and rich\, that he can hauntingly immerse himself in the same perspective of those old primitive country composers and write as if he was right beside them. Their album Innocent Road includes a clutch of lovingly arranged Klauder originals\, along with well-placed and rare covers. The pair bring the spirit of legendary country duos into their contemporary takes on country music. Trading vocals back and forth\, they complement each other strikingly well in an attractive meld of honky-tonk that brushes shoulders with trad bluegrass. Caleb has penned over 50 songs many of which are standards across America in honky tonk and bluegrass jams and festivals\, both on and off stage.  There is a long list of bands and singers who have recorded Caleb’s songs over the years. \nThe blend of true harmonies\, the sharply-written country songs\, and the un-showy authenticity strike a rich vein that makes them seem like they are born and raised in Music City.  They quietly pursue a musical vision without much of a care for what’s expected or in vogue at the time. There’s a lot to admire in this singular perseverance and honesty. \n\nArtist Website

SUMMARY:Ed Snodderly & Friends
DESCRIPTION:Recalling the modern\, esoteric lyricism of Guy Clark and Billy Joe Shaver and the Southern traditions of old-time music and bluegrass\, veteran Americana singer- songwriter-guitar player Ed Snodderly’s new album Chimney Smoke\, (his 10th)\, is a hypnotic\, slow-burning masterpiece of expert songcraft and storytelling. Often wistful and nostalgic\, with unforgettable characters\, indelible memories and a sense of place at its heart\, Chimney Smoke bears the marks of a pugilist’s nimble agility and endurance but occasionally also delivers a knockout blow or two. Case in point: “Gone With Gone and Long Time\,” a dazzling meditation on the stages of grief. “It’s a song about loss as much as it is emphatic about dark\,” Snodderly says of the track\, which features harmony vocals from Hall of Fame songwriter Gretchen Peters. Aided throughout by “the Shoestring Seven\,” a who’s-who of veteran musicians including Shawn Camp\, Steve Conn\, John Gardner\, Steve Hinson\, Gary J. Smith\, Chris Scruggs and Kenny Vaughan\, the album also features singers Amythyst Kiah\, Maura O’Connell\, Malcolm Holcombe and more. \nChimney Smoke had its origins in Snodderly’s desire not only to make the best record possible but in the concept of creating a quintessential “Southern” album\, a chronicle of both his Appalachian roots and his own personal upbringing. The title track “Chimney Smoke” offers a vivid depiction of Appalachian life\, and is one of the prime examples of Snodderly’s gift for bringing memories and a deep sense of place to life with his intimate lyrics. \nTo help add masterful strokes of color\, shade and texture to an already vibrant narrative\, Snodderly enlisted Grammy-nominated producer R.S. Field (Todd Snider\, Shaver\, Justin Townes Earle\, Allison Moorer\, etc.). Another of the notable participants in the recording of Chimney Smoke would also prove one of its most poignant\, as the album was the final project completed by beloved Grammy-winning recording engineer and producer Bil VornDick\, who passed away in July 2022. \nEddie Lynn Snodderly was born and raised in Knoxville\, Tennessee\, to a father who was a Fuller Brush salesman and a mother who was\, in his words\, a “housewife extraordinaire.” Snodderly’s grandfather was a farmer and old-time fiddler\, who\, along with his brother\, won several ribbons at Knoxville-area fiddlers’ conventions in the 1920s and ’30s. Snodderly started playing guitar at age 12\, enamored of the music of the British invasion\, while also absorbing the old-time music played by family members that was simply part of the Snodderly’s homespun DNA. \nIn 1976\, Snodderly co-founded (with friend Joe “Tank” Leach) the now-iconic music venue\, the Down Home Coffeehouse and Pickin’ Parlor in Johnson City\, TN. \nLong known as The Down Home\, it’s an intimate listening room that has played host to countless acts in bluegrass\, folk\, old-time and blues music. Recognized for its eclecticism by numerous publications\, including the New York Times\, the Down Home has also spotlighted everything from theatrical productions\, poetry and story slams\, to political rallies and funerals. “I don’t know if it’s ancestral or all these ghosts that are drifting around here in the mountains\, but it’s a special place\,” Snodderly says\, which\, like his music\, has its deepest roots in his upbringing. “Since I was six years old I’ve always loved having a clubhouse\, building them out in the woods in the middle of a pasture field with a couple of friends\,” says Snodderly. \nSnodderly would continue to mix his life as a traveling musician with running the club\, always looking forward to getting back to the Down Home. Decades before the blending of numerous roots musical styles would give rise to the genre now known as Americana\, a wide array of artists graced the Down Home stage\, including New Grass Revival\, Norman Blake\, John Hartford\, Willie Dixon\, John Lee Hooker\, Queen Ida\, Koko Taylor\, Ramblin’ Jack Elliot and Townes van Zandt\, to name just a few. “It’s always been a juggling act for me between performing\, writing and club-running\, but I’ve been lucky\, and doing it so long that it’s all a part of the act.” Snodderly would go on to immortalize the club in his song “Down Home\,” a spirited talking-blues track from his 2017 album\, Record Shop. \nSince his 1977 debut album\, Sidewalk Shoes\, Snodderly has released LPs on Sugar Hill and other prestigious roots-oriented labels. In addition to his solo work\, he also recorded and performed as the Brother Boys with duet partner Eugene Wolf. Songs that he’s written have been covered by Jerry Douglas\, Sam Bush\, John Cowan\, Missy Raines and others\, and in 2000\, he played a minor role (credited as “Village Idiot”) in the Coen Brothers’ film\, O Brother\, Where Art Thou? The recipient of a 2020 lifetime achievement award from the Southern Region of Folk Alliance 2020 for his contributions to Southern folk music\, Snodderly also has the third verse of his song\, “The Diamond Stream\,” permanently displayed on the Wall of Honor at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville. Since 1992 he has been teaching songwriting classes in the Bluegrass\, Old Time\, and Country Music Studies program at East Tennessee State University\, where one of his most high-profile students in recent years\, Amythyst Kiah\, made a lasting impression\, leading to her remarkable vocal contributions to three cuts on the new album. \n“He’s so eccentric and a genius to boot\,” Snodderly says of producer\, R.S. Field. “His mantra was\, ‘Let’s make Americana great again.’” \nWith sparkling lyrics\, mind-expanding wit and down-home wisdom\, that’s exactly what Ed Snodderly’s Chimney Smoke does. \nArtist Website
