SUMMARY:The French Family Band
DESCRIPTION:Country music just sounds better when a family sings it. That’s where it all began: mothers\, fathers\, grandparents\, aunts\, uncles\, and cousins\, all huddled together\, picking and singing on a porch in the twilight. That’s why when The French Family launch into the bittersweet ache of a classic or the startling tenderness of one of their self-penned original songs\, the hairs on country music loving necks stand up\, and we instinctively––sometimes tearfully––recognize this father\, mother\, and son as the real thing. Touring over the last almost 20 years as Camille and Stuie\, the husband-and-wife duo became beloved in Australia. Stuie is a monster player with chops that sublimely meld the virtuosity and instinct of jazz with the clear tone and restraint of American hillbilly roots music. Camille holds a once-in-a-generation voice: somehow both crisply expressive and immeasurably rich and smooth\, she can sit back to soothe in a pocket before jumping out to thrill. Now based in Nashville and with the addition of middle son Sonny on stage\, The French Family is acclimating to life stateside––deep roots in tow. “I love being able to share our family music with people\,” says Camille. “I think people crave it. They come up and tell me how much they love seeing the love among our family and what we do––and I love being able to share that with everybody.” \nStuie agrees\, adding\, “We hope our music takes people back to a time when the essence of country music was twangy guitars\, honest songs\, and vocals that tear your heart out.” \nDoors open at 7pm. Show begins at 8pm. All tickets here are first come\, first served at the door. So if you are in the area\, plan to come down and enjoy live music with a pizza and a beer (or two!) \n\nArtist websiteFollow on FacebookFollow on Instagram

SUMMARY:Tim O'Brien
DESCRIPTION:At the Station Inn\, O’Brien will be joined by Mike Bub on bass\, Shad Cobb on fiddle\, and his wife Jan Fabricius on mandolin. \nBorn in Wheeling\, West Virginia in 1954\, Grammy winning singer songwriter and multi- instrumentalist Tim O’Brien grew up singing in church and in school. After seeing Doc Watson on TV\, he became a lifelong devotee of old time and bluegrass music. Tim started touring nationally in 1978 with Colorado bluegrass band Hot Rize. His songs “Walk the Way the Wind Blows” and “Untold Stories” were bluegrass hits for Hot Rize\, and country hits for Kathy Mattea. Soon more artists like Nickel Creek\, Garth Brooks\, and The Dixie Chicks covered his songs. Over the years\, Tim has collaborated with his sister Mollie O’Brien\, songwriter Darrell Scott\, and noted old-time musician Dirk Powell\, as well as with Steve Earle\, Mark Knopfler\, Dan Auerbach and Sturgill Simpson. \nLiving in Nashville since 1996\, O’Brien’s skills on guitar\, mandolin\, fiddle\, and banjo make him an in-demand session player. A voracious reader who loves to cook\, he tours throughout the US and abroad\, most often with his wife Jan Fabricius on mandolin and vocals. The International Bluegrass Music Association awarded him song of the year in 2006 and named him best male vocalist in 1993 and 2006.  He was inducted into the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame in 2013 and into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame in 2022. \nO’Brien’s 2023 release “Cup of Sugar” featured songs about an angry bear\, a millionaire dog\, his neighbor\, and Walter Cronkite. Other notable recordings include the bluegrass Dylan covers of “Red on Blonde”\, the Celtic-Appalachian fusion of “The Crossing”\, and the Grammy winning folk of “Fiddler’s Green”. His duet recording “Real Time” with Darrell Scott is a cult favorite\, and he won a bluegrass Grammy as part of “The Earls of Leicester”. A set of 15 new originals co-written with Jan Fabricius and Tom Paxton\, “Paper Flowers” will be released in April. \n\nArtist Website

SUMMARY:Clay Hess Band
DESCRIPTION:Clay Hess is from Athens\, Ohio and is the leader of The Clay Hess Band. \nClay’s first introduction to many was as the lead guitarist for Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder\, winning a Grammy Award during his tenure there.  After departing Skaggs\, Hess toured and recorded with several of the top bands in the genre.  With the help of long time friend and musical comrade Randy Kohrs\, Clay recorded his critically acclaimed solo CD “Rain” with the title track going to #1 on the Bluegrass Today chart. The success of the project directly led to the formation of The Clay Hess Band in 2012. \n“Growing up in a musical family\, it wasn’t hard to find an instrument laying around to plunk on”. Pair that with having a desire to learn\, a passion for music\, and a wealth of people to learn from and you get a musician.  “Having a family of talented players and singers is an advantage if you can keep your ears open and your mouth shut. I should have done more of both.” Today with The Clay Hess Band you can hear the result of all the jam sessions\, bar gigs\, bluegrass festivals\, and hours learning from relatives/musicians/recordings.  Known for his syncopated sense of timing\, Hess always tries to keep you guessing what is coming next . \n\nArtist Website

SUMMARY:Jason Carter & Michael Cleveland
DESCRIPTION:In Lloyd\, Kentucky\, on U.S. 23\, there’s a sign on the Country Music Highway dedicated to renowned fiddler Jason Carter. It was placed there because of his other accomplishments—the Grammy awards\, the worldwide tours\, and the many other accolades he’s earned through his music. But for Carter\, joining the legendary names honored on that stretch of highway just might mean the most. “There’s a certain sound that’s up there that you just don’t hear anywhere else\,” he says. “I think that played a big part in how I sound today.” \nTrue to those Kentucky roots\, Carter continues to pour all he has back into bluegrass. For thirty years\, he has been the fiddle player for the Del McCoury Band—the most awarded group in bluegrass history. He’s won three Grammy awards\, including 2018’s “Best Bluegrass Album” with the Travelin’ McCourys\, of which he is a founding member. And he’s taken home five IBMAs for “Fiddle Player of the Year\,” a staggering number that isn’t quite so crazy once you realize just how many bluegrass greats have turned to Carter for collaboration. \nAs a fiddler\, Carter has been featured on albums by Steve Earle\, Ricky Skaggs\, Dierks Bentley\, Charlie Daniels\, Vince Gill\, Asleep at the Wheel\, and many more\, all in addition to his tireless touring and recording with Del as well as the Travelin’ McCourys. On Carter’s forthcoming solo album\, Lowdown Hoedown\, listeners may recognize instrumental contributions from such legends as Jerry Douglas or Sam Bush alongside vocals from young trailblazers like Sarah Jarosz or Billy Strings. This time\, though\, Carter is singing lead. \nThe album’s namesake track\, a good-time duet with longtime friend Dierks Bentley\, plays on Carter’s dexterity on the fiddle with an flashy solo—while also showcasing his charisma as a frontman and vocalist. “Good Things Happen\,” a Jamie Hartford number with vocal harmonies from Aoife O’Donovan\, marks the kind of tender moment fit for a first dance or sweet serenade. But Lowdown Hoedown has its somber side\, too. \n“Dust Bowl Dream\,” a wistful narrative about a depression-era farmer\, builds on its slow pace and vivid lyrical imagery with powerful harmonies from Sarah Jarosz and twin fiddles from Carter and fellow IBMA-winning fiddle player Bronwyn Keith-Hynes. The John Hartford tune “Six O’Clock Train” marks a slower\, more ominous moment\, calling in vocal harmonies and guitar from Billy Strings. \nScattered across the album\, too\, are hints of the influences that have shaped Carter’s sound throughout his life. A guitar player since childhood and a fiddler since 15 (the age when he swore that someday he’d play in the Del McCoury Band)\, Carter inherited his love for bluegrass from his father\, a musician himself\, and grew up playing at jams\, festivals\, and campgrounds across Kentucky. After he graduated high school\, he took his talent as a fiddler on the road professionally: first with the Goins Brothers\, then at 19 with the Del McCoury Band\, and later with the Travelin’ McCourys. \nIn the decades since\, he’s seen the bluegrass community evolve and expand. “The bluegrass fans\, they’re pretty loyal\,” he says\, noting that he’s found a similar kinship sharing stages with jam bands like Phish and Leftover Salmon\, too. “They stick behind you\, they’re there for you.” Carter mirrors that loyalty with his own—loyalty to his craft\, loyalty to the road\, and loyalty to the career path he’s dreamt of since childhood. With Lowdown Hoedown\, Carter shares the fruits of decades’ worth of on-the-road experience\, spectacular musical sensibility\, and genuine excitement for what bluegrass can be. \n\n\nThe tension between tradition and innovation is at the core of bluegrass music\, and the fiddle playing of Michael Cleveland exemplifies this musical tug of war. As a boy\, Cleveland heard a local fiddler play “Orange Blossom Special\,” which sparked a lifelong obsession with the tune that mimics that sound of a train. Cleveland’s improvisational versions push the piece’s descriptive tones and percussive bowing to a new level. With an encyclopedic memory for melodies\, and an uncanny intuition for improvisation\, Cleveland’s music is both rooted in tradition and fueled by his melodic imagination. \n\n\nFrom an early age\, Cleveland heard old-time and bluegrass music at local jams and festivals near his hometown of Henryville\, Indiana. His grandparents hosted regular bluegrass gatherings at the American Legion\, and at age four\, he began playing the fiddle. He attended the Kentucky School for the Blind in Louisville\, where he learned the Suzuki method of violin. While he practiced the violin at school\, he played fiddle at home. Traveling with his grandparents to area bluegrass festivals\, he heard many legendary players perform at Bill Monroe’s Bluegrass Festival in Bean Blossom\, Indiana. At the age of nine\, Cleveland got to play with Monroe—himself a recipient of the National Heritage Fellowship in the inaugural class of 1982—at the festival. When Cleveland was 12\, he met music historian Dave Samuelson\, who recognized the young musician’s interest and talent. Samuelson curated several Braille-labeled tapes for the young musician\, which served as Cleveland’s essential listening guide to bluegrass music. Cleveland’s repertoire and musicianship grew\, and in 1993 he played the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) awards show with the Bluegrass Youth All-Stars. \n\n\nCleveland began playing professionally after he graduated from high school\, first with Jeff White and later with Dale Ann Bradley and Rhonda Vincent. Since he was young\, however\, Cleveland had dreamed of leading his own band. In 2006\, he formed Flamekeeper\, the seven-time recipients of the IBMA’s “Instrumental Group of the Year” award. Flamekeeper includes Josh Richards\, Nathan Livers\, Jasiah Shrode\, and Chris Douglas. In addition to touring with his band\, Cleveland has performed with a legendary list of bluegrass greats. Nevertheless\, he remains rooted in his local Southern Indiana community\, where he continues to play with friends when he is not on tour. \n\n\nWidely considered the bluegrass fiddler of his generation\, Cleveland has been recognized 12 times as the IBMA’s “Fiddler of the Year” and in 2018 was inducted into the National Fiddler’s Hall of Fame. His recording Fiddler’s Dream was nominated in 2018 for a Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album\, and in 2019\, he won a Grammy for his album Tall Fiddler. In 2019\, Cleveland’s amazing life of adversity and achievement was featured in the documentary film Flamekeeper: The Michael Cleveland Story. And in 2022\, he was awarded the National Endowment for the Arts Heritage Fellowship. \n\n\n\nJason Carter WebsiteMichael Cleveland Website

SUMMARY:Lauren Mascitti
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Station Inn for a great night of music with Lauren Mascitti! \n\n\nYou might remember Lauren Mascitti from this past season of ABC’s “American Idol.” Mostly known for her solo round performance during Hollywood Week of a song she penned herself and dedicated to her nana titled “God Made A Woman\,” she quickly became a fan favorite. During the Top 40 showcase in Hawaii\, however\, she became part of a history-making and controversial vote for the last spot in AI’s Top 20. Although she didn’t win the vote\, putting her in 21st place\, outraged Idol fans catapulted Lauren’s newest independent album release “God Made a Woman” to #4 on the iTunes Country Albums Chart within a day of her elimination. Lauren is determined to keep the fire burning bright using her momentum and success from her Idol experience as fuel. #21 just might be Lauren’s magic number… \nYears before Lauren Mascitti’s newest release\, God Made a Woman\, helped build a bridge between the traditional twang of her country influences and the modern melodies of her Nashville contemporaries\, the songwriter grew up in the small farm community of Louisville\, Ohio\, raised on the sounds of her grandparents’ music collection. Her Nana was a fan of old-school soul and gospel music. Her Papaw loved outlaw country stars like Waylon Jennings. Lauren rolled those influences into her own sound\, recording her first album at 7 years old and quickly growing into a seasoned performer\, skilled multi-instrumentalist\, and expressive storyteller. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNine albums later\, Lauren’s story remains grounded in the cultural tapestry of her upbringing. A proud Italian-American\, she grew up with the songs of her favorite Italian-American artists\, whose classic melodies inspired her own songwriting. Equally inspirational were the Saturday nights of her childhood\, when Lauren would often stay up late to watch singers like Crystal Gayle on The Statler Brothers Show. Come Sunday\, she’d be at her beloved church\, Trinity Gospel Temple\, singing in the choir and leading praise and worship in the youth group. Mentored at the age of 7 by choir member Cheryl Jamison\, Lauren developed a strong voice and began recording her own gospel albums while still in elementary school. By 12 years old\, she had released four solo records and moved to Branson\, Missouri\, where she balanced her schoolwork with nightly performances alongside gospel singer (and original Oak Ridge Boy) Gary McSpadden. She played six shows a week at the Americana Theater\, becoming a professional singer before she was even a teenager. \nMeanwhile\, Lauren was also growing into a seasoned songwriter. Strumming an old Gibson Dove acoustic guitar that had once belonged to her great-grandfather\, she wrote her first songs as a young teenager\, drawing not only upon her background as a gospel singer\, but also her love of poetry and a lifelong appreciation for classic country music. She started making regular trips to Nashville at the age of 13. There\, she studied with renowned vocal coach Brett Manning\, played her original music at local songwriters showcases\, and began planning her move to the big city. Lauren recorded her first batch of original songs at 15 years old and even scored a hit with “Child of God\,” which debuted at number 70 on the national Southern Gospel radio chart. In the meantime\, Lauren was still traveling from church to church with her music ministry\, as well as anywhere else her Nana drove her. \nLauren eventually did move to Nashville\, but not before graduating college with a degree as a registered nurse. “I work with people at different stages in their lives\,” she says of her ongoing work as an RN\, “and I’ve heard so many stories. The whole experience has inspired me. I’ve learned a lot about people and what they’ve gone through.” During her off-the-clock hours\, Lauren continued writing songs\, sometimes alone and sometimes with the input of co-writers like Pam Tillis\, Matraca Berg\, Mo Pitney\, Bobby Tomberlin\, Wil Nance\, Bill Whyte\, Ronnie Bowman\, Renee Martin\, and more. She also struck up a partnership with Grammy Award-winning producer\, Shawn Camp\, who produced Lauren’s strongest album to date: 2020’s God Made a Woman. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA heavily autobiographical album featuring performances from bluegrass icon Ricky Skaggs\, pedal steel legend Paul Franklin\, and others\, God Made a Woman finds Lauren singing about her childhood stomping grounds (“I Wanna Show You My Town”)\, her work as a nurse (“Hello Sad Eyes”)\, and her faith in God (“Ready For The Sun To Shine Again”). The album was recorded at the legendary Butcher Shoppe and engineered by the great Sean Sullivan\, with Lauren tracking her vocals alongside a all-star band that included dobro player Jimmy Stewart (Brooks & Dunn)\, drummer Larry Atamanuik (Emmylou Harris\, Allison Krauss)\, guitar hero Guthrie Trapp (Jerry Douglas\, Patty Loveless)\, keyboardist Peter Wasner (Vince Gill)\, upright bassist Mike Bub (Ashley Monroe\, Vince Gill)\, fiddle player Aubrey Haynie (The Time Jumpers)\, and Shawn Camp (Guy Clark\, Garth Brooks). The result is an album about a young woman finding her place in the world and in the music industry. Lauren has found her sound\, too — a sound that is empowered\, eclectic\, and similarly soothing as her RN work. \n“I grew up with gospel and traditional country\,” explains the songwriter\, who updates the classic sounds of her childhood on the new record\, “but this album is about more than tradition. I want to put a fresh spin on everything\, while still grounding it in an earthy\, rootsy vein. God Made a Woman is a mix of the traditional and the fresh.” \nLauren has always been fond of the classics. “I’m an old soul\,” she admits\, “and everything I really love tends to come from a time that’s before my own.” With God Made a Woman\, though\, she mixes the classic sound of her influences with modern appeal. It’s an honest album grounded in one woman’s personal history — her gospel-filled church services in Ohio; her Nana’s favorite soul songs; her Papaw’s country cassettes; her many performances at Italian-American events like the Dean Martin Festival — with a fresh spin. \nGod Made a Woman is Lauren Mascitti not only as her most compelling\, but at her most fully realized. This is her story\, told song by song. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nArtist WebsiteFollow on Facebook

SUMMARY:Edgar Loudermilk Band
DESCRIPTION:Edgar Loudermilk’s signature voice\, bass skills\, and songwriting are a family tradition for this Louvin Brothers’ descendant. Loudermilk’s distinctive and powerful vocals cut to the heart of a song\, while also winning over audiences with his friendly\, down-home style. \nIn addition to touring and performing\, Edgar Loudermilk has experienced great success as a songwriter. To quote Edgar\, “I see songwriting as much of a calling as singing. Songwriting is a big part of it for me. Playing and singing is great fun and a good time\, and we love the audiences\, but the art of crafting words and music into a song is very rewarding.” \nIn addition\, their recently released album “The Dark Side of Lonesome” has already seen chart action from two Edgar Loudermilk-penned songs\, with the release of the title track and their second release\, “I’ll Put The Blame On You.” \nNumerous songs written and performed by Edgar Loudermilk have been chart topping songs on Bluegrass Today’s Top Songs of the Year\, as well as on Bluegrass Unlimited’s Top Songs. Notably\, the band’s 2019 Rural Rhythm Records album release of “Lonesome Riverboat Blues\,” reached #1 status on the Sirius XM Bluegrass Junction “Most Played” status for July\, 2019. In addition\, “Lonesome Riverboat Blues” spent 12 weeks in the Top 20 of the Bluegrass Today Airplay Charts. \nPrior to stepping out with his own band in 2015\, Edgar Loudermilk experienced a long tenure of performing with the award-winning groups Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out\, Rhonda Vincent & The Rage\, and Marty Raybon & Full Circle.
