DESCRIPTION:Bluegrass\, old-time\, and folk music lovers alike can’t get enough of The Burnett Sisters Band\, as siblings Anissa\, Sophia\, and Anneli and band mates Justin Alexander from Sweetwater\, TN and Geary Allen from London\, England are all gifted multi-instrumentalists who are well-known and well-loved in the traditional music circuit. The band brings a youthful energy and modern flair to each performance\, while remaining true to the traditional roots of the genre. Their on-stage chemistry is unmistakable – the type that only close siblings can have\, evident in exchanged glances and spontaneous smiles – and their musicianship is undeniable.​ \nFor years The Burnett Sisters have dominated the regional competition circuit – from fiddler’s conventions to music festival contests\, these young ladies have proven their chops. It was no surprise to anyone that the band took home the top prize at the MerleFest Band Competition in 2022. Most recently\, Anissa took home the prestigious blue ribbon for Old-Time Fiddle at the 2024 Old Galax Fiddlers Convention\, and Anneli won the incredible first place trophy in Folk Song\, both competing against hundreds of singers and fiddlers. On top of all that\, these talented individuals also find time to keep traditional music ways alive and well as instructors for the Watauga Junior Appalachian Musicians program\, as well as the Bluegrass\, Old-Time\, and Roots Music Studies program at ETSU. \nTo assign a genre to The Burnett Sisters Band would be to oversimplify the breadth of their musical influences – at a typical show\, an old-time fiddle tune might be followed by a George Jones song\, a driving bluegrass standard or a soaring gospel number. DESCRIPTION:Amanda Cook\, now entering her tenth year as the leader of the Amanda Cook Band\, has left an indelible mark on the bluegrass scene. \nOriginally from Jay\, Florida\, Cooks passion for bluegrass was ignited by her father\, with whom she played in a band during the mid-2000s. With her down-to-earth style\, profound connection with her audience\, and distinctive vocal range\, she quickly achieved popularity. Fueling a fire to record and tour professionally\, Cook made the move to the Mountains of Virginia\, to not only sign a long term 5 album contract with record label Mountain Fever Records\, but also to work there as an engineer. \nThe band’s fourth studio album\, “Changes” debuted at the number one spot of the Billboard Bluegrass Album chart in October 2022\, coinciding with the band’s continued presence at festivals and top venues nationwide. \nIn 2022\, Amanda was promoted to Chief Operations Officer of Mountain Fever Records where she continues to oversee operations of the label. SUMMARY:Tim O'Brien
DESCRIPTION:Born in Wheeling\, West Virginia in 1954\, Grammy winning singer songwriter and multi- instrumentalist Tim O’Brien grew up singing in church and in school. After seeing Doc Watson on TV\, he became a lifelong devotee of old time and bluegrass music. Tim started touring nationally in 1978 with Colorado bluegrass band Hot Rize. His songs “Walk the Way the Wind Blows” and “Untold Stories” were bluegrass hits for Hot Rize\, and country hits for Kathy Mattea. Soon more artists like Nickel Creek\, Garth Brooks\, and The Dixie Chicks covered his songs. Over the years\, Tim has collaborated with his sister Mollie O’Brien\, songwriter Darrell Scott\, and noted old-time musician Dirk Powell\, as well as with Steve Earle\, Mark Knopfler\, Dan Auerbach and Sturgill Simpson. \nLiving in Nashville since 1996\, O’Brien’s skills on guitar\, mandolin\, fiddle\, and banjo make him an in-demand session player. A voracious reader who loves to cook\, he tours throughout the US and abroad\, most often with his wife Jan Fabricius on mandolin and vocals. The International Bluegrass Music Association awarded him song of the year in 2006 and named him best male vocalist in 1993 and 2006.  He was inducted into the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame in 2013 and into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame in 2022. \nO’Brien’s 2023 release “Cup of Sugar” featured songs about an angry bear\, a millionaire dog\, his neighbor\, and Walter Cronkite. Other notable recordings include the bluegrass Dylan covers of “Red on Blonde”\, the Celtic-Appalachian fusion of “The Crossing”\, and the Grammy winning folk of “Fiddler’s Green”. His duet recording “Real Time” with Darrell Scott is a cult favorite\, and he won a bluegrass Grammy as part of “The Earls of Leicester”. A set of 15 new originals co-written with Jan Fabricius and Tom Paxton\, “Paper Flowers” will be released in April. \n\nArtist Website

DESCRIPTION:Marc’s life has been about pursuing twin passions: creating and recording his American roots songs\, and exploring remote areas of the desert and mountain West. After signing his first publishing contract while in law school\, he fronted rock bands and performed regularly in New York City clubs like CBGB\, Wetlands\, and The Knitting Factory. All through this period\, he’d find ways to get into the West\, picking up details from fellow wilderness junkies about off the beaten path locales and filing them away for future reference. On one of these trips\, he became intrigued by the cover of THE BIG IT\, a book of short stories by A.B. Guthrie he found on a revolving paperback rack in a Navajo reservation trading post. It got him thinking about using his travels to create a set of songs in the cultural tradition of writers like Guthrie and visual artists like John Ford and Frederick Remington. Marc and Co-Producer Mike Ricciardi now present RIDE\, ten cinematic recordings reflecting Marc’s romantic connection to the American West and exploring the value of its myths to contemporary culture. \nMarc has performed at Austin’s South by Southwest Music Festival and The Kerrville and Falcon Ridge Folk Festivals and has opened shows for Bob Dylan and other national acts. His song THE LAST ONE was a staple of Richie Havens’ concerts and has been quoted in the NY Times and featured on The CBS Evening News.
