SUMMARY:The Gravel Yard
DESCRIPTION:The Gravel Yard formed modestly in an actual gravel lot deep in the Ozark Mountains of Stone County\, Arkansas; fueled by moonlit jam sessions it was quickly evident that this group’s chemistry was something more. Once a completely informal entity The Gravel Yard made their way onto the local bluegrass music scene wherein they began to amass a steady following and began to play to larger and larger venues. Their sound can best be described as an eclectic amalgamation of hard driving traditional bluegrass and progressive musicality – juxtaposed with a soulful Country and Americana flavor.With the addition of fellow Arkansan Christopher Denny (formerly of Partisan Records) on lead vocals the band has broadened their influence and dialed in on a sound that harkens back to the days of yore. Denny’s unique vocal contributions with his otherworldly old-time natural vibrato brings strength to an already “stout as Kentucky Bourbon” crew of ass-kicking grassers – gifting to the bluegrass world a musical footprint unlike any other.Join us and for a brief moment in time you too can be transported back to the days of a country church singin’ – feel the history of American Roots Music – when the instruments were handmade and the front porch was a stage; deep into the mountains and down a dirt road and when you arrive you can be part of The Gravel Yard.

SUMMARY:Shawn Lane & Richard Bennett
DESCRIPTION:Shawn is a three-time GRAMMY nominee and 28-time IBMA Award winner with Blue Highway.   Heralded as a vocalist and instrumentalist\, Lane is explosive on fiddle\, mandolin\, and guitar.  Shawn is also a respected songwriter\, and was nominated as 2015 IBMA Songwriter of the Year\, penning such iconic songs as The Game\, Sycamore Hollow\, and Tears Fell on Missouri.  Lane played in the bands of both Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunderand Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver prior to becoming a founding member of Blue Highway in 1994. \nRichard is a respected guitarist\, vocalist\, and songwriter who began his musical journey at the young age of seven. By age 15\, the East Tennessee native was touring with former Flatt & Scruggs fiddle player Benny Sims.  Gigs at Dollywood followed\, with his big break coming in the 1990’s as he joined the legendary J.D. Crowe & The New South.  Bennett appeared on Crowe’s 1995 album “Flashback\,” which was nominated for two GRAMMY Awards.  He went on to tour with greats like Bobby Osbourne\, Mike Auldridge\, and Jimmy Gaudreau.  Richard also released several solo and trio albums on Lonesome Day and Pinecastle Records.  His projects have garnered radio airplay across the musical genres of Bluegrass\, Folk and Americana. \nShawn and Richard started writing songs together two years ago. A few unique songs seemed to have a natural duo feel\, so the two decided to spread their musical wings with a duo project showcasing their songwriting\, instrumentals\, and vocal chops.  Their sound that has slightly more folk and jam feel than the music Shawn and Richard release with their respective primary bands.  Richard currently helps drive the traditional yet fresh sound of the J.D. Crowe & the New South reunion band\, Flashback\, while Shawn shines in the legendary multi-award winning supergroup he co-founded\, Blue Highway.

That’s where it all began: mothers\, fathers\, grandparents\, aunts\, uncles\, and cousins\, all huddled together\, picking and singing on a porch in the twilight. That’s why when The French Family launch into the bittersweet ache of a classic or the startling tenderness of one of their self-penned original songs\, the hairs on country music loving necks stand up\, and we instinctively––sometimes tearfully––recognize this father\, mother\, and son as the real thing. Touring over the last almost 20 years as Camille and Stuie\, the husband-and-wife duo became beloved in Australia. Stuie is a monster player with chops that sublimely meld the virtuosity and instinct of jazz with the clear tone and restraint of American hillbilly roots music. Camille holds a once-in-a-generation voice: somehow both crisply expressive and immeasurably rich and smooth\, she can sit back to soothe in a pocket before jumping out to thrill. Now based in Nashville and with the addition of middle son Sonny on stage\, The French Family is acclimating to life stateside––deep roots in tow. “I love being able to share our family music with people\,” says Camille. “I think people crave it. There was a bluegrass quartet that would play in the Free Will\nBaptist Church\, and soon Norris became infatuated with the music that could materialize from a\nbanjo and a guitar. So\, at nine years old\, he picked up the mandolin. \nAnd he never put it down. \nIt was a similar love affair of music for Mary Rachel Nalley-Norris\, who started playing classical violin\nin the fourth grade\, but by the fifth grade\, she knew it wasn’t for her. Instead\, in a quest to differentiate\nherself from her musical counterparts in her grade school orchestra\, she took up the fiddle. She\nbegan playing the festival circuit alongside the likes of the legendary Larry Sparks and the Lonesome\nRamblers and soon became one of the most dynamic females on those festival stages. \nIt was on that stage she eventually met her husband Kody\, who had already gone on to play alongside\nthe likes of Ralph Stanley\, Ralph Stanley II\, and Joe Isaacs throughout his already impressive career.\nIn 2017\, banjo extraordinaire Josiah Tyree signed on with The Kody Norris Show\, and soon his\nold-time clawhammer style fit right into the bluegrass style that the band was becoming known for\nacross the country. And when bass player Charlie Lowman joined in on the fun\, armed with a\ngiddiness and love for the music that he plays that soon became infectious\, The Kody Norris Show as\nwe now know it was complete. \nIt was musical magic at its finest. \nIt’s this easy-going nature that became downright illuminated on 2017’s When I Get the Money Made\,\nwhich was named Bluegrass Album of the Year by the National Traditional Country Music\nAssociation. The Kody Norris Show followed it up with 2019’s All Suited Up\, which debuted at #7 on\nthe Billboard charts. SUMMARY:Tim O'Brien
DESCRIPTION:Born in Wheeling\, West Virginia in 1954\, Grammy winning singer songwriter and multi- instrumentalist Tim O’Brien grew up singing in church and in school. After seeing Doc Watson on TV\, he became a lifelong devotee of old time and bluegrass music. Tim started touring nationally in 1978 with Colorado bluegrass band Hot Rize. His songs “Walk the Way the Wind Blows” and “Untold Stories” were bluegrass hits for Hot Rize\, and country hits for Kathy Mattea. Soon more artists like Nickel Creek\, Garth Brooks\, and The Dixie Chicks covered his songs. Over the years\, Tim has collaborated with his sister Mollie O’Brien\, songwriter Darrell Scott\, and noted old-time musician Dirk Powell\, as well as with Steve Earle\, Mark Knopfler\, Dan Auerbach and Sturgill Simpson. \nLiving in Nashville since 1996\, O’Brien’s skills on guitar\, mandolin\, fiddle\, and banjo make him an in-demand session player. A voracious reader who loves to cook\, he tours throughout the US and abroad\, most often with his wife Jan Fabricius on mandolin and vocals. The International Bluegrass Music Association awarded him song of the year in 2006 and named him best male vocalist in 1993 and 2006.  He was inducted into the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame in 2013 and into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame in 2022. \nO’Brien’s 2023 release “Cup of Sugar” featured songs about an angry bear\, a millionaire dog\, his neighbor\, and Walter Cronkite. Other notable recordings include the bluegrass Dylan covers of “Red on Blonde”\, the Celtic-Appalachian fusion of “The Crossing”\, and the Grammy winning folk of “Fiddler’s Green”. His duet recording “Real Time” with Darrell Scott is a cult favorite\, and he won a bluegrass Grammy as part of “The Earls of Leicester”. A set of 15 new originals co-written with Jan Fabricius and Tom Paxton\, “Paper Flowers” will be released in April. \n\nArtist Website
