DESCRIPTION:The Cincinnati-based ensemble Buffalo Wabs (as in ‘mobs’) and the Price Hill Hustle can be best described as ‘American’– from the mountains to Music Row\, blues-gospel to traditional country\, the Hustle combines parts of the American-born genre catalogue to create an energetic experience every single night.    \nThis four-piece moves from fast-paced\, foot-stomping anthems to harmony-laden ballads and traditional dirges of spirit and labor. “The group started around the love of music that moves you\,” says drummer/vocalist and band spokesman\, Casey Campbell. “The music accompanies the story; and sometimes the music is the story by which we can all connect to one another.”    \nWith the release of their third album\, Stranger in the Alps\, due March 15th\, 2019\, the Hustle aims to increase their original music portfolio while paying homage to select tunes that have had lasting impact on the band. “This album explores the first co-writing the band has undertaken\,” says Campbell.  “And through that collaborative process we’re beginning to find more complex voices\, more adventurous tunes that bridge our influences even more than before.”  \nThe new original material featured on Stranger in the Alps is a “cross-section of stylistic influences and voices\,” says Campbell. “Oh\, Ramona!\,” written by Campbell\, hearkens to the Piedmont Blues-era musicians\, with tongue-in-cheek lyrics and a wry humor throughout. “Those old pickers knew how to tell a story; that’s the kind of vibe we’re after.”  \nThe band also pays respects to some of the great influencers of American music on this latest album.  “The covers we’ve chosen mean something to us; these are songs that still speak to us\, and we want folks who may not know them to become familiar.” On the album’s third track\, the band takes a full-steam-ahead approach to the iconic Leadbelly song\, “Stewball\,” an all-out fest that echoes the frantic speeds of a racetrack. “The intensity\, the pace\, it all builds from the first note to the last\,” with help from acclaimed regional musicians Joe Macheret (The Tillers and Joe’s Truckstop) on fiddle and John K. Victor on harmonica. Macheret’s fiddle plays a pivotal role throughout the album; as Campbell notes\, “Having such immensely talented friends is so beneficial when building the sonic landscape of a studio tune.”    \nAs “Stranger in the Alps” is just hitting the market\, the band already has its eyes set on the next project. “The wheels have been put in motion\,” Campbell says\, “and we’re ready to get the next batch out. It’s going to be a busy year.”    \nThe Hustle has worked relentlessly through the Mid-Atlantic region\, playing shows from south Minnesota to Asheville\, North Carolina. As 2019 begins ramping up the band is eager to stretch its legs farther west\, farther south\, and beyond.    \nFrom large theaters to tiny bars\, the show’s the same: heartfelt\, real\, a little loose\, and sincerely fun.  As the Hustle says\, “If it ain’t fun\, it ain’t worth it.”  \nFounded on the West Side of Cincinnati\, the current lineup of the Hustle is starting its third year together. Anchored by the upright\, Bill Baldock brings decades of experience and finesse to the  \ntalent pool\, having been based around Nashville\, TN\, for many years while playing for a litany of revered industry professionals. Primary soloist Scott Risner does the same; now based in Cincinnati\, Risner has also been a staple in the circuit for over thirty years\, playing with such renowned acts as Alison Krauss and JD Crowe and the New South. Founding members Matt Wabnitz and Casey Campbell have been picking out heavy-hearted tunes for a decade together. DESCRIPTION:Originally from the sacred bluegrass mountains of southwestern Virginia\, Thomas Cassell is among the highest rank of modern bluegrass musicians.  Cassell is a founding member of respected progressive group Circus No. 9\, and has performed as a sideman with Billy Strings\, the Bryan Sutton Band\, Jim Lauderdale\, Missy Raines\, Becky Buller\, and countless others.  Now a resident of Nashville\, TN\, he is cultivating new and original music – not ignorant of the great traditions that preceded him. \nCassell’s new album\, What You Need to Prove\, is his first collection of original vocal material\, following the acclaimed 2018 instrumental album Voyager. \nIn 2021 Cassell was named the National Mandolin Champion.  He was also named the 2020 Momentum Instrumentalist of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association\, 2021 FreshGrass Mandolin Champion\, 2016 Rockygrass Mandolin Champion\, and is a two-time alum of the prestigious Acoustic Music Seminar in Savannah Georgia\, where he collaborated with artists including Darrell Scott\, Bryan Sutton\, Mike Marshall\, Aoife O’Donovan\, Kaia Kater\, and Julian Lage. \n\nArtist Website

Raised in a\nmusical family\, Scarlett became acclimated to bluegrass early on\, winning her first singing\ncompetition at age four and subsequently learning upright bass by the time she was eight. Her\nadolescent years were spent performing with her family’s band\, prior to venturing out on her\nown and performing with other artists and outfits as an adult. \nFor his part\, Big John can claim a musical resume that extends back over 35 years. He too\nbecame acclimated to the sounds of bluegrass at a remarkably early age. He first picked up guitar\nat nine years old\, and remarkably\, by the time he was 16\, he was cited with heady honors\, the\nVFMA Male Vocalist of the Year Award. Barely a year later\, he and his band New Dominion\nBluegrass were guesting with Bill Monroe’s at the Grand Ole Opry. He continued to perform\nwith Bill Monroe and his Blue Grass Boys\, as well as other notables as well\, among them\, Jody\nRainwater (Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs ’bass player)\, Tater Tate (Bill Monroe’s bass player and\nfiddle player) Jackie Phelps (one of Bill Monroe’s guitar players and a star of the hit TV show\n“Hee Haw”)\, The Virginia Squires\, Wyatt Rice\, and plenty of others as well. \nThe two met by chance in January 2019 while they were filling in with a band in North Carolina.\nThere was an immediate chemistry between them\, which became apparent as they began\nworking together with other ensembles. Things really began clicking both personally and\nprofessionally when they found themselves attending the Bluegrass First Class gathering in\nAsheville\, North Carolina. It offered them a chance to share a few tunes and get better\nacquainted. It quickly became apparent that they had many similar musical interests that drew\nfrom the same set of influences\, among them\, Bill Monroe\, The Osborne Brothers\, Jimmy\nMartin\, Larry Sparks\, Del McCoury\, The Stanley Brothers\, Johnson Mountain Boys\, Tony Rice\,\nLester & Earl\, Peter Rowan\, among them. \n“Starlett is absolutely the most talented person I have ever seen\,” Talley said. “Her singing\,\nplaying and songwriting is only second to the size of her heart and her delivery of the music. She\ntruly feels every note she sings\, and plays every note she feels. When it comes to putting it all in\nthere\, she’s right there punching. A true Virginia Songbird.” \nFor her part\, Scarlett makes no secret of her own enthusiasm. “Making music with Big John has\nbeen a once-in-a-lifetime find\,” she maintains. “When you meet that person you musically click\nwith\, everything seems to fall into place. The sky’s the limit.” \nOn June 1\, 2019\, they made their bow as “Starlett and Big John” in Iron Gate\, Virginia\, and\nthey’ve been going strong ever since. Touring over the last almost 20 years as Camille and Stuie\, the husband-and-wife duo became beloved in Australia. Stuie is a monster player with chops that sublimely meld the virtuosity and instinct of jazz with the clear tone and restraint of American hillbilly roots music. Camille holds a once-in-a-generation voice: somehow both crisply expressive and immeasurably rich and smooth\, she can sit back to soothe in a pocket before jumping out to thrill. Now based in Nashville and with the addition of middle son Sonny on stage\, The French Family is acclimating to life stateside––deep roots in tow. “I love being able to share our family music with people\,” says Camille. “I think people crave it.
