DESCRIPTION:Every so often a band comes around that knocks everybody’s socks off and gets people talking. I’d bet good money that you’re gonna really enjoy them\, but I don’t want to take your money. Use it to listen to the PRB. I‘m putting my money on them.  \n-Jim Lauderdale \nAt a time when most people feel constantly distracted by technology and barraged by the news\, authenticity and straightforward honesty are paramount. There’s something about the music of The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys that cuts right through the noise of the world and speaks plainly to the soul. Formed in the Smoky Mountains\, The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys are at once exactly what you would expect and not at all what you would expect from a tattooed East Tennessee Bluegrass outfit. No strangers to hard work\, the boys are as much at home riding in their restored Eagle tour bus as they are crawling underneath to fix it when it needs maintenance. But they take pride in being ambassadors of their genre\, and the group has brought their music from rural bluegrass festival stages to the rock clubs of Europe\, and even the GRAMMY Red Carpet\, with stunning results. “I think to a certain extent everyone is just craving music that they can feel\, and any music that feels real will reach any audience” says CJ Lewandowski\, the groups founder\, “We want to put bluegrass right where it’s least expected”. Perhaps this mindset is why the group earned the title of Emerging Artist of the Year at the 2018 IBMA Awards. \nIn 2014\, Lewandowski was working at Ole Smoky Moonshine Distillery in Sevierville\, TN when the band first formed. The distillery employed musicians to play for visitors seven days a week\, and Lewandowski\, who primarily plays Mandolin and sings\, was occasionally hired to fill in when the entertainment didn’t show. Eventually\, the distillery approached him about forming a band for a full time slot\, so he reached out to long time music friends Jereme Brown\, who plays banjo for the group\, and Josh Rinkel\, who plays guitar. “Jereme was doing a lot of welding work at that time\, and Josh was running a sign company”\, says Lewandowski\, “I think we were all ready to do something new\, something with our music but we didn’t know when or how”. Bassist Jasper Lorentzen happened to be working in the tasting room at the distillery\, and he turned out to be the perfect addition to the band. The four friends played multiple times a week for a year and half\, honing their band sound\, meanwhile word was spreading about their music. “The first gig we played out of town was a festival in Alberta\, Canada\, and a week later we went on a two week tour of Europe\, it was crazy”\, says Lewandowski. In 2020\, the finishing touch\, the cherry on top if you will\, was added to the quartet. Laura Orshaw\, a seasoned fiddle player and singer joined the Boys after contributing her talents to the Sound Biscuit Productions’ full Gospel album\, “God’s Love is So Divine” and “Toils\, Tears\, & Trouble.” On the addition C.J. exclaims “after 5 1/2 together as a four piece\, we needed that perfect fit that would not only fit us on stage and recording\, but a personality that would add to the band and be a part of the family we have created. Laura was that person and we can’t think of anyone else that fits our music and our family better than her. The show has benefitted so much from Laura and the chemistry we have between the now 5 of us.” \nMaterial for the group’s freshman Rounder Records album “Toil\, Tears & Teouble\,” was a combination of original songs and old numbers that honor the group’s mentors and bluegrass heroes. “We love to dig up old songs that haven’t been heard in years and bring them back into the spotlight”\, explains Lewandowski. In fact\, two of those gems on the Rounder album\, “Next Train South” and “Hickory\, Walnut & Pine\,” were nominated for IBMA Song of the Year along with “Next Train South” taking the trophy for SPBGMA same category in 2020. The momentum of “Toil\, Tears & Trouble” has continued to grow with the band’s first GRAMMY Nomination for Best Bluegrass Album.\nThe Po’ Ramblin’ Boys passion for bluegrass is as clear as it is contagious. With a heavy touring schedule across the United States and Europe and recent Grammy Nomination with Rounder Records\, the Boys are well on their way to becoming the quintessential bluegrass band of their generation. Despite all of their recent success\, they maintain a humble perspective. “Bluegrass has left such a mark on us that we feel like we owe something back to the music”\, says Lewandowski. “We want to do something for the music to show our appreciation… There’s no telling what could have happened to us\, what we would have become if we hadn’t found this music. It’s gotten us through a lot\, the good and the bad. When I think about all of the damn medications that I didn’t have to take because I had music to turn to. We didn’t have to go to the doctor and pay for something to make us feel better\, because we had this music\, so we really want to honor it by bringing it out of the shadows and onto new stages and wider audiences. DESCRIPTION:Shawn is a three-time GRAMMY nominee and 28-time IBMA Award winner with Blue Highway.   Heralded as a vocalist and instrumentalist\, Lane is explosive on fiddle\, mandolin\, and guitar.  Shawn is also a respected songwriter\, and was nominated as 2015 IBMA Songwriter of the Year\, penning such iconic songs as The Game\, Sycamore Hollow\, and Tears Fell on Missouri.  Lane played in the bands of both Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunderand Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver prior to becoming a founding member of Blue Highway in 1994. \nRichard is a respected guitarist\, vocalist\, and songwriter who began his musical journey at the young age of seven. By age 15\, the East Tennessee native was touring with former Flatt & Scruggs fiddle player Benny Sims.  Gigs at Dollywood followed\, with his big break coming in the 1990’s as he joined the legendary J.D. Crowe & The New South.  Bennett appeared on Crowe’s 1995 album “Flashback\,” which was nominated for two GRAMMY Awards.  He went on to tour with greats like Bobby Osbourne\, Mike Auldridge\, and Jimmy Gaudreau.  Richard also released several solo and trio albums on Lonesome Day and Pinecastle Records.  His projects have garnered radio airplay across the musical genres of Bluegrass\, Folk and Americana. \nShawn and Richard started writing songs together two years ago. A few unique songs seemed to have a natural duo feel\, so the two decided to spread their musical wings with a duo project showcasing their songwriting\, instrumentals\, and vocal chops.  Their sound that has slightly more folk and jam feel than the music Shawn and Richard release with their respective primary bands.  Richard currently helps drive the traditional yet fresh sound of the J.D. Crowe & the New South reunion band\, Flashback\, while Shawn shines in the legendary multi-award winning supergroup he co-founded\, Blue Highway.

A number of popular touring bluegrass artists have committed to donating live performances for the event. Health considerations will probably keep Eddie and Martha from attending in person. Still\, they are thrilled that the benefit will be happening once again\, and also very glad that Valerie Smith has agreed to produce the event in conjunction with Josh Ulbrich at the Station Inn. \nCash donations taken at the door (minimum $20 for admission) will be turned over to Room In The Inn\, a well-respected local homeless benefit charity\, as was done in past years. Touring\, recording and industry awards have become a mainstay for Jeanette. She also plays bass with the band. With more than seventeen SPBGMA nominations thru 2021\, and three wins for Female Vocalist of the Year (2009\, 2012 and 2013)\, two IBMA awards (2006 and 2009 Recorded Event of the Year\, with the Daughters Of Bluegrass) two songwriting awards (2007 Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at MerleFest\, 2008 IAMA Songwriting Contest) and over thirty-two years of performance experience in Bluegrass and Bluegrass Gospel\, Jeanette is expanding her repertoire to include her early influences of Classic Country\, Blues\, Roots\, and Rock n’ Roll. \nJay Shelton (Danville VA) – Jay was on the bluegrass scene in the 70’s & 80’s as a lead singer and lead guitarist. He changed direction and became the front man for a rock band for many years. Afterwards he became a singer songwriter performing solo concerts. In 2019 he returned to the bluegrass scene. An accomplished lead guitarist\, songwriter and vocalist he recorded his first project “Home” (including Jeanette & Johnny Williams) this past year. \nJohnny Williams (Danville VA)\, plays guitar\, shares vocals and writes most of the band’s original material. An award winning singer and songwriter\, he has been named Virginia State Champion Male Vocalist\, PICABO Male Vocalist (twice)\, and PICABO Songwriter of the Year. He was the bluegrass division winner of the prestigious Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at Merlefest in 1998 & 1999. SUMMARY:The Tennessee Warblers
DESCRIPTION:A Nashville institution\, the Tennessee Warblers have been jamming folky grooves since 2014 with a rotating cast of pickin' pals culled from Music City's vibrant bluegrass and Grateful Dead community. \nJohn Beck and Adam Dalton met while performing together in various projects and bonded over the acoustic music of Jerry Garcia and David Grisman. On a winter's eve\, they tried their hands at co-writing and the song "Restless" was born. Soon thereafter the Warblers took flight performing in and around Music City before starting what was to become a 5 year residency at Nashville's legendary Sutler Saloon. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThere the group honed their sound and was featured on the Travel Channel's Food Paradise. In 2016 they released their debut EP of which the Murfreesboro Pulse called "a solid debut peppered with well-played instrumental breaks\, and recommended for fans of Americana and Southern folk." \nThey stayed busy touring\, performing at festivals (Hoedown on the Harpeth Bluegrass Festival\, Nashville Predators' Craft Beer Festival\, East Nashville Beer Festival) and periodically orchestrated tributes to their heroes\, performing Bob Dylan's Nashville Skyline and the Grateful Dead's Europe '72 albums in their entirety. \nAfter distilling some fresh songs\, they linked up with engineer Nathan Yarborough (The Mavericks\, Leanne Rimes\, Mastodon) to cut their debut record live in the warm wood walls of Madison\, TN's Bluegrass Compound. Seated together in a circle in the shotgun cabin hall\, they took turns calling tunes from their repertoire and let the tape roll. \nThe resulting record\, Small Town Songs\, was released in November 2022 to which Ana Lee of WMOT Roots Radio 89.5FM called\, "A really fun album. A lotta great covers. A lotta great originals." Edd Hurt of the Nashville Scene wrote\, "Small Town Songs makes me happy to know the Nashville bluegrass-Dead community is thriving." \nIn 2023 the group performed the record on their Small Towns Tour\, collaborated with Midnight North at the Touch of Brews Music Festival and of all things sang to Chuck Norris AND survived! \nThe band continues to serve up a fun mix of rootsy originals and cherry picked covers to all who'll lend an ear. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArtist Website
