DESCRIPTION:Bridging the divide between straight-drive\, traditional grass played by the Del McCoury Band and the Lonesome River Band and the genre-warping progressive grass done by the Punch Brothers and Billy Strings\, Colebrook Road strives to find a common middle ground\, creating new enthusiasts for bluegrass while expanding the definition of the genre for established fans.\nInfluences of the members of Colebrook Road abound\, from ‘90s country to heavy metal to punk rock to\, yes\, traditional bluegrass. Each member brings their own experiences to the music to create something greater than what the five individuals could have ever achieved separately. \nGuitarist\, lead vocalist\, and main songwriter Jesse Eisenbise lends his great vocal range and racing guitar picking to each song\, while banjoist\, dobroist\, and bass vocalist Mark Rast hammers out blinding right-hand rhythms blended with just enough left-hand virtuosity. Mandolinist Wade Yankey’s gargantuan rhythm chop and inventive breaks play off of fiddler and baritone vocalist Joe McAnulty’s searing\, syncopated fiddle work. That’s where it all began: mothers\, fathers\, grandparents\, aunts\, uncles\, and cousins\, all huddled together\, picking and singing on a porch in the twilight. That’s why when The French Family launch into the bittersweet ache of a classic or the startling tenderness of one of their self-penned original songs\, the hairs on country music loving necks stand up\, and we instinctively––sometimes tearfully––recognize this father\, mother\, and son as the real thing. Touring over the last almost 20 years as Camille and Stuie\, the husband-and-wife duo became beloved in Australia. Stuie is a monster player with chops that sublimely meld the virtuosity and instinct of jazz with the clear tone and restraint of American hillbilly roots music. Camille holds a once-in-a-generation voice: somehow both crisply expressive and immeasurably rich and smooth\, she can sit back to soothe in a pocket before jumping out to thrill. Now based in Nashville and with the addition of middle son Sonny on stage\, The French Family is acclimating to life stateside––deep roots in tow. “I love being able to share our family music with people\,” says Camille. “I think people crave it. They come up and tell me how much they love seeing the love among our family and what we do––and I love being able to share that with everybody.” \nStuie agrees\, adding\, “We hope our music takes people back to a time when the essence of country music was twangy guitars\, honest songs\, and vocals that tear your heart out.” \nDoors open at 7pm.
